So the past week has been a frustrating one for me. On top of being quite busy I somehow managed to injure my left leg in two areas and I don’t even know how it happened. I have had this constant ache close to my hip.. not sure if its the muscles or my IT band but it really is uncomfortable. The other is my ankle. I was having pain when I walked and moved my foot. So I was feeling around and realized it was also swollen. So yea no running and major weight bearing activities for almost a week now. I have done workout for my upper body and core but tried to minimize things that I thought would aggravate it. So running was definitely out of the question. Today it feels a bit better so I did some squats and lunges on top of my other exercises but no running just yet.
Injuries suck and it is frustrating not being able to do what I want. I just hope this goes away soon and I am able to easily get back into the swing of things.
On another topic I start my new job tomorrow!!! I am super excited 😀
My sis and fiance were both feeling sick so I made this immune boosting juice! Carrot, orange, grapefruit, sweet lemon and ginger!
My weekend has been decent so far. Last night went out for dinner with 10 friends to celebrate our recent engagement. It was a great night surrounded by great friends.

So today I decided to do some circuit training that incorporated running. So it was 5 mins warm up on the treadmill then 2 mins fast run and 2-3 mins of a strength training exercise and then back to running. Total workout time was about 45 mins and man was it a good workout!! My heart was pumping and I was so sweaty. I like circuit training because it feels like time goes by quicker and I get a good mix of exercises in. The exercise I did in between the runs today were biceps curls, trice extensions, squats, push ups, and some lower ab exercises. Overall a good workout and a nice start to my day.

Below is the V-day dinner my fiance and I cooked. He made the fish which was baked and covered in nuts and breadcumbs and I made the salad and a homemade honey mustard dressing. The fish look like hearts!
This is my sister’s dog and she needs a haircut bad so we tied her hair to get it out of her face haha. She is so cute.
Over the weekend we went out for sushi and once of the dishes we ordered (tuna tatar which came on a bed of rice and avacados) came in a pretty heart!
Yes yes I know I have been away from my blog for a little bit. After the engagement it has been a bit hectic! But I am enjoying having a fiance!! 😀
So lets catch up! I have been working out (both running and doing strength training). I also have been doing the 4 min tabata workout which is basically a whole bunch of jumping lunges, jump squats, burpees and push ups. It is a great start to my day when I don’t have time for a full workout. I have to admit that I have been doing very short running distances recently. No particular reason .. once it was cause my back was hurting.. another time I didn’t have enough time and just stupid reasons like that. I will have to get back to doing longer runs. Yesterday I did a short 1.5 mile run and worked on my abs and legs.
We had a long weekend here in Canada and I had a super busy weekend. Saturday & Sunday I was doing a weekend workshop/course on intro to massage therapy. I was considering doing this 1 Year accelerated program to become a Registered Massage Therapist. It is usually 2-3 years but since I have my Bachelors in Kinesiology and have a background in anatomy, physiology and etc I can do a shorter program. The workshop was actually really enjoyable and we learned to do a full body relaxation Swedish massage. I also stayed the weekend at my
bf’s (oops gotta get use to that!) fiance’s place. Then today I had a 2nd interview for a job I really want and it went really well! So all is good 🙂
In the spring I think I want to do an engagement photo shoot so I want to lose a bit more weight before that. I gotta continue stick to my plan 😀 Hope everyone else had a fantastic week!
So my goal is to be active at 5-6 days out of the week. I already do 3-4 days a week but I wanted to increase that a bit but the days I don’t workout is usually because I gotta be up early and I am strapped for time. So I am going to start doing a couple of these 4 min tabata workouts. Tomorrow morning I will do this one and see how it goes!
So my legs were still pretty sore from Monday’s workout but I knew I had to run today.
So I woke up and dragged myself downstairs to my basement gym. I started on the treadmill with a 5 min warm up but when I stared running I started having pretty bad pain in my lower back. I sometimes have this one spot on my lower back that acts up and it was that same spot. I knew if I continued it would just get worse and then I wouldn’t be able to do anything. So I stopped running after 4 mins and then increased my incline and power walked. I did a total of 25 mins on the treadmill and about 1.75 miles. I found that the less movement the less pain. So I held on to the bars while walking to minimize the motion of my arms swinging back and forth and that helped.
After I did some weights to work on my biceps. My arms getting much stronger and when I flex they feel good! But I still have that jiggly bit on my arm by my triceps and I know the only to get rid of those is to lower my body fat %. So I have already lost about 25 lbs or so since my journey started but I still have another 20 lbs or so I would want to lose especially before the wedding! I need to set up a meal plan for myself and my exercise routine is already pretty set and good. I don’t believe in dieting and restricting yourself cause it just never has worked for me but instead I believe in moderation and making healthy choices. 🙂
So let met just get the workout update out of the way and get to the good stuff 😛 I did a very short run today as my shins were really hurting and I was having the good old cramps. So just a quick half a mile and about an hour of strength training. I worked on legs (squats, lunges, side leg raises, calf raises etc) and back (back extension, bent over rows and etc). Felt good! Oh and as for the first pic I didnt actually wear my ring when lifting weights I just wanted to take that pic 😛 hehe
Ok now to the good stuff! So Saturday I was working until 3 and my sis was supposed to pick me up as she had told me that some of our friends were coming over. So I leave my work and I am looking for my sister’s cat but instead I see what I am pretty sure is my bf’s car… so I walk closer and I see that it is him! Then I see he has roses on the seat for me. I get in the car and I am like what are you doing here!?? He tells me that it was all a set up and that he has a fun day planned for us. He tells me we are celebrating valentine’s day early 🙂 He says we are on a tight time schedule but I insist I must go home and change! haha so we get home and he gives me 3 mins to change which I do very quickly. Then we drive to the subway station and leave the car there. I don’t know where we are going I just know it involves food as both of us are starving! So we head downtown and he takes me to this little restaurant that has tamales!! So a few years ago we went to California and we had tamales there and loved them but we couldn’t find anywhere here that had them and I have been craving them since. So we had an awesome dinner and he said out next stop was dessert somewhere else. So we hop back on to the subway and head further downtown. We get off the subway at one of the busiest stations and he is looking around all confused on where he has to go… so I am like tell me where the place is and I can lead us there cause I know this area well and hes like no no I got it. So we continue looking around (while I am getting annoyed cause he won’t just tell me lol). Then he takes off his jacket… then his hoodie and he is wearing my hockey jersey underneath is and says “I think this is yours and you should be waring this!” Then I realize he is taking me to the hockey game!!! So his fave team is out home team but mine is a diff team and that night they were playing each other 🙂 So we go to the arena and he got us amazing seats!! So our hockey tickets are super expensive… actually they are the most expensive team to watch in the NHL (stupid!). So I know he spent a lot on these tickets. So we watch the game and then after he is like ok lets go for dessert! So we hop back on the subway and head towards a dessert place. It was about a 5 min walk from the station to the dessert place. So we are walking and then all of a sudden he stops and pulls me to him. He starts telling me how much he loves and stuff and then I stop listening as I see him reach into his pocket and pull out a box … then he gets down on one knee and asks the big question. I just nod several times as I can’t speak! I still had my gloves on so he’s like “take your glove off!!!” lol so I do and he puts the ring on and then we just hugged and cried and laughed 🙂 Then he’s like ok lets go celebrate! And so we went and had yummy dessert 🙂
While eating dessert he tells me how my whole family knew and he already talked to my dad in the summer and asked his permission and hes been planning this for 6 months. He originally wanted to propose during the game on the big screen but when he contacted them they told him they don’t do proposals at games. So he said he just decided to propose at the game anyway but while we were there they had the kiss cam on and some guy proposed to his gf and like it was planned cause they had their names on the screen and everything and so he was furious and decided not to do it at the game because he felt like it would be overshadowed by the other proposal. He was pretty pissed about that whole thing but I assured him it didn’t matter where he did and I was still super happy 🙂
7 Year later I am so excited to call him my fiance!!! 😀
So I finally got my phone back so that meant I could continue with my 10k app! Yay! So week 3 day 1 was 5 min warm up, 90s jog, 90s walk, 3 min jog, 3 min walk repeated twice and then 5 min cool down. So for a total of 28 mins.. I finished with 2.13 miles. I ran at a speed of 6.5 or 9:14/mile pace. I felt good after the run. It wasn’t too hard.
After I continued to do some strength training exercises. I worked on biceps and back. Did curls, bent over rows, back extension and etc. I tend to neglect working out my back (which i really shouldn’t) so I have set a goal that I will workout my back at least once a week. I love doing back extensions and let me tell you how you can still do them without a back extension station. So since I workout at home I don’t have an endless supply of gym equipment but I have enough to make things work. One of my favourite things I have is the exercise ball. I use it for so many things from a bench to do chest press to a chair or to a back extension station. If you are wondering how I use it for the back extension I will explain. So I lay on the ball and put my feet on the wall or against it to steady myself. Just like the pic below:
It honestly is a great workout for your back!
So right now it is snowing A LOT! It has been snowing all night and morning and it is supposed to continue. I will have to take some pics and post them later. Looking out my window right now it is completely white.
So over the weekend my bf and I made these amazing pizzas! We used this special flatbread called P28. They have 28 grams of protein in them. This brand also has bagels, toast and nut butters. They are really good!!! https://p28foods.com/
So we used the flatbread then put some organic tomato sauce, low fat cheese, and loaded it up with tons of spinach, onions, mushrooms, green peppers and some prosciutto. It was sooo good. It is like a thin crust pizza!
