Wednesday Workout

So my legs were still pretty sore from Monday’s workout but I knew I had to run today.

So I woke up and dragged myself downstairs to my basement gym. I started on the treadmill with a 5 min warm up but when I stared running I started having pretty bad pain in my lower back. I sometimes have this one spot on my lower back that acts up and it was that same spot. I knew if I continued it would just get worse and then I wouldn’t be able to do anything. So I stopped running after 4 mins and then increased my incline and power walked. I did a total of 25 mins on the treadmill and about 1.75 miles. I found that the less movement the less pain. So I held on to the bars while walking to minimize the motion of my arms swinging back and forth and that helped.

After I did some weights to work on my biceps. My arms getting much stronger and when I flex they feel good! But I still have that jiggly bit on my arm by my triceps and I know the only to get rid of those is to lower my body fat %. So I have already lost about 25 lbs or so since my journey started but I still have another 20 lbs or so I would want to lose especially before the wedding! I need to set up a meal plan for myself and my exercise routine is already pretty set and good. I don’t believe in dieting and restricting yourself cause it just never has worked for me but instead I believe in moderation and making healthy choices. 🙂

Healthy New Stuff to Try

So yesterday I went to costco for some shopping and I got a few new things to try. A rice and beans pilaf (I usually get the wild rice from this band but they didnt have it; the wild rice is amazing btw), quinoa flakes ( I am getting sick of oatmeal so I wanted something else to try) and a pasta made from brown rice, quinoa and amaranth. I do usually only eat brown rice pasta so I thought Id try this out. I am quite excited to try them out!
Has anyone had any of these?

Also has anyone ever had amaranth?? I was reading that is is high in lysine, calcium, iron and magnesium. I am curious to learn more and see if I can actually find it.

Great Day! New distance, new weight, new opportunities. Week 9 workout 2.

So today has been my best distance yet. 3.06 miles. So close to the 3.1!!! And…… I did jog the whole 30 mins!!!! 😀

Since I was struggling to finish the 30 mins and even the 28 mins I decided to change things up. I did pyramid intervals with 3 differnt speeds and 2 mins at each speed. It definitely helped because I was focused on getting the 2 mins done in each speed instead of focusing on the overall time. It was easier to think “ok I got 1 min left at this speed” instead of “omg I still have 20 mins to go”. I got one more workout before I am officially a couch 25k graduate! Sunday Is going to be a big day for that reason AND I got an interview on Sunday 🙂 I hope it goes well as my current work situation is just making me more and more unhappy.

To top off the more good news the scale went down again 🙂 I didn’t think it was going to because I have been bloated and not feeling good because of girl’s time of month but I am down 4.2 lbs since I started the Fall into Fitness 30 Day Challenge about 2 weeks ago.

I am so happy my run went well today as it didn’t start great. When I am on my time of the month my digestive system gets all messed up. I become bloated and backed up and very uncomfortable. So 2 mins into my warm up I had to jump off the treadmill and head to the bathroom. I am so glad it was during my warm up and not the actual run. Anyways moving away from this topic… haha

After my workout I had a lovely breakfast. French toast made from sprouted grains bread with raspberries and banana. The smoothie had mango, papaya, berries, vegegreens, and half a scoop of vanilla protein. Protein, fruit, and veggies. What else could you want?

Trying something new. Baked apples.

So my bf’s mom gave me a bag of apples from their apple picking trip. So I decided to peel and dice them up and bake them. I covered the apples in cinnamon and drizzled some honey on top. I wrapped it on aluminum foil and baked it for 20 mins at 350. I then got out my plain greek yogurt and mixed in half a scoop of my vanilla protein. Once the apples were done I let them cool and threw them on top. OMG so good. It tastes like apple pie 😀 and healthy too!
