Wednesday Workout

So my legs were still pretty sore from Monday’s workout but I knew I had to run today.

So I woke up and dragged myself downstairs to my basement gym. I started on the treadmill with a 5 min warm up but when I stared running I started having pretty bad pain in my lower back. I sometimes have this one spot on my lower back that acts up and it was that same spot. I knew if I continued it would just get worse and then I wouldn’t be able to do anything. So I stopped running after 4 mins and then increased my incline and power walked. I did a total of 25 mins on the treadmill and about 1.75 miles. I found that the less movement the less pain. So I held on to the bars while walking to minimize the motion of my arms swinging back and forth and that helped.

After I did some weights to work on my biceps. My arms getting much stronger and when I flex they feel good! But I still have that jiggly bit on my arm by my triceps and I know the only to get rid of those is to lower my body fat %. So I have already lost about 25 lbs or so since my journey started but I still have another 20 lbs or so I would want to lose especially before the wedding! I need to set up a meal plan for myself and my exercise routine is already pretty set and good. I don’t believe in dieting and restricting yourself cause it just never has worked for me but instead I believe in moderation and making healthy choices. πŸ™‚

Wednesday Run & Strength training and I got my phone back!

So I finally got my phone back so that meant I could continue with my 10k app! Yay! So week 3 day 1 was 5 min warm up, 90s jog, 90s walk, 3 min jog, 3 min walk repeated twice and then 5 min cool down. So for a total of 28 mins.. I finished with 2.13 miles. I ran at a speed of 6.5 or 9:14/mile pace. I felt good after the run. It wasn’t too hard.

After I continued to do some strength training exercises. I worked on biceps and back. Did curls, bent over rows, back extension and etc. I tend to neglect working out my back (which i really shouldn’t) so I have set a goal that I will workout my back at least once a week. I love doing back extensions and let me tell you how you can still do them without a back extension station. So since I workout at home I don’t have an endless supply of gym equipment but I have enough to make things work. One of my favourite things I have is the exercise ball. I use it for so many things from a bench to do chest press to a chair or to a back extension station. If you are wondering how I use it for the back extension I will explain. So I lay on the ball and put my feet on the wall or against it to steady myself. Just like the pic below:

It honestly is a great workout for your back!

So right now it is snowing A LOT! It has been snowing all night and morning and it is supposed to continue. I will have to take some pics and post them later. Looking out my window right now it is completely white.

So over the weekend my bf and I made these amazing pizzas! We used this special flatbread called P28. They have 28 grams of protein in them. This brand also has bagels, toast and nut butters. They are really good!!!

So we used the flatbread then put some organic tomato sauce, low fat cheese, and loaded it up with tons of spinach, onions, mushrooms, green peppers and some prosciutto. It was sooo good. It is like a thin crust pizza! Image

Monday Run and Juicing

So my phone decided to crap out on me a couple days ago. So right now I am stuck with a basic phone until the company gets back to me on whether they are going to give me a new phone. So that means no apps and no data (ugh). So I had no idea what week 3 of the 10k program I was doing was going to be… so I made it up on what I thought it would be. So I did 2 min jog then 2 min speed walk for 30 mins. I had a harder time running today…I think I was going to have to go to the bathroom and so I was getting some cramps. I also had the feeling in my chest like the air was too cold but i was running on my treadmill … I think it was cause I had the fan on and it was bothering me. Which is odd cause i generally always have the fan on when i am running. Then I started to get all itchy from the sweating I think ahhh it was just and annoying run but I did. I walked at a speed of 4 and jogged at 6.5 (9:14/mile). After that I did some weights for my upper body. I am super excited about the difference I can see in my arms. When I flex I can really feel the difference πŸ™‚

I also decided to pull out this juice that I have had for a while but never used. So I went shopping to make juices. I made a nice blend with apples, oranges, spinach, cucumber, and carrots. If my phone was working I would take a pic of the amazing green colour the juice is. I got one of those glass Voss water bottles to keep the juice in cause it is quite an ordeal to clean the juicer so I made a big bottle and kept it in the fridge. There was so much pulp left from the juice so I decided to use it in a soup. I made butternut squash soup and added the pulp left from the juice and it is delicious!!

Now that I have gotten my started on a good note its time for work!

Week 2 Day 2

So today was the same routine as day 1 for the 10k app. 5 min warm up then alternate 90 sec jog with 2 min walk then 5 min cool down for a total of 31 mins. I increased my speed a bit more on my jogs than my last run. So last time i finished with a distance of 2.37 miles and today I did 2.42. So a little bit of an increase πŸ™‚ I did my jogs at a speed of 6.8 which is a 8:45/mile place or so… I must say that near the end of each 90 second bout I was quite tired…. and I know that speed isn’t even that fast haha as people run at that speed when they do long distances but for me right now it is pretty fast. Just something I know I will get better at with time πŸ™‚ I got one more run this week at the same intervals then next week it is something different.

Happy humpday!

Monday Run- Week 2 Day 1

Today ^

Sept 2013 and Summer of 2012 ^

So today was day 1 of week #2 in the 10k app from Zen Labs I am following. I woke up and immediately could feel the soreness in my legs and arms from my workout yesterday. I stretched a good deal before and after my run. I know I am going to be quite sore are the day goes on… I kind of like the soreness because it is a reminder of the hard work I put in. The run was the usual 5 min warm up and cool down with intervals of 90 sec jogging and 2 min walking for a total of 31 mins. I finished with a distance of 2.37 miles. I felt good during the run except for one point where my hair was bothering me and I had to stop and fix it. I also wore my new workout shirt I got for the run today. I posted it next the progress pics I uploaded from Sept. There isn’t much weight difference between the pic from today and from september but I think I have increased my muscle and toned up a bit more. I feel good and energetic. I do have to go to work soon and it is mighty cold outside right now (-11 but feels like -20!). I need to get ready and bundled up!

Happy Monday everyone!

Signed up for a 5k!!! and Friday Run – Day 2 of 10K app

So I have finally signed up for my first ever 5k. I decided to do the Color Me Rad 5k because it is a more fun based race and that is what I need for my 1st one. The thought of running a race is very nerve wracking for me. I feel self conscious and I feel like I will be the slowest one there but I don’t care.. I will do this for me! Signing up was a big deal for me. I also got a few friends to join so yay! TheΒ  big day will be May 31, 2014!! I am super excited and nervous!

So today I did the 2nd day of the 10k app program thing. It was the same as day 1… which was warm up, 60 sec jog/90 sec walk repeated then cool down. Last time I did 2.22 miles and today I did 2.32 in the same time frame. So I increased it by a bit πŸ™‚ I ran the jogs a bit faster this time (between 9:15 – 8:34 /mile). I felt good after my run now I have a goal and date to look forward to. Once things get warmer (probably late March) I will start training outside and that will be when the real training kicks in.

Today I also went shopping and got a workout t-shirt and a running/workout long sleeve sweater/shirt thing. I love them! I also got a super cute dress that I cannot wait to wear (probably when things get a bit warmer). Image

Kitty joined in on the pic as well πŸ™‚ She seems to be doing better and hasn’t had blood in her urine the last 2 days. So hopefully the crystal is dissolving!
